City’s outdoor pools to open for summer season

KITCHENER – City of Kitchener outdoor pools open for the season in June and aquatics supervisors are preparing their staff for intensive training to ensure that all swimmers are safe, and aware of what it takes to keep families safe around water.
The first of the City of Kitchener’s outdoor pools – Idlewood Pool at 5 Thaler Ave. – will open for the 2009 summer swim season on Monday, June 1, weather permitting.
All of the city’s outdoor pools will be open by Saturday, June 20, weather permitting.
Harry Class Pool, located at 45 Woodside Ave., will open on June 6.
Kiwanis Park and pool, located at 600 Kiwanis Park Dr., will open for the weekend of Friday, June 12-14. It will be closed through the following week, but opens every day starting Friday, June 19.
The Breithaupt Park wading pool, located on Union Ave., will open on Saturday, June 13, and Wilson Pool, located at 78 Wilson Ave., opens on Saturday, June 20.
Safety in and around water is key to a safe and fun summer. Wearing a lifejacket while out on the water saves lives. Whether on boats, sea-doos or canoes, or participating in any water-related program, all boaters should wear a lifejacket or personal flotation device (PFD).
Make sure loved ones are swimming in a supervised and safe area this summer; enjoy the City of Kitchener pools.
